House summons Education Minister

By Bridgett Milton

The House of Representatives has summoned Education Minister Prof. D. Ansu Sonii to appear before Plenary next Tuesday, 6 September 2022 to provide clarity on some issues relative to the reopening of Schools across the Country.

Plenary’s decision followed a communication from Bong County Electoral District #3 Representative J. Marvin Cole.

Mr. Cole craved the Plenary to invite the Education Minister to address himself to this year’s reopening of schools scheduled for 5 September 2022 while graduation of various schools are still ongoing.

He said he wants Minister Sonii to explain if the Ministry of Education has a standard or policy set up for graduation fees for schools across the length and breadth of the Country.

The Bong County lawmaker noted that he also wants the Ministry of Education to provide an academic timetable for the resumption of schools or classes, taking into consideration the climatic condition to avoid health hazards for school-going kids.

The Plenary believes that if these concerns are addressed properly, it will afford already struggling parents the opportunity for their children to enroll for the next academic school year.

Following the reading of the communication, a motion was proffered by Maryland County Electoral District #3 Representative Dr. Isaac Roland for the appearance of the education minister on Tuesday, 6 September.
