I won all past elections

-George Weah tells AFP

Senator-elect George Weah, claims since he entered politics, he has been winning past elections, including both the 2005 and 2011 presidential elections in which President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was declared winner.

Weah, who was recently declared winner of the Montserrado Country senatorial seat by the National Elections Commission (NEC), told the French News Agency AFP, via mobile phone that he is a borne winner, but had been cheated twice in the presidential race. “I was borne winner”, he said.

This is Weah’s first electoral position since he came to politics 15 years ago, after an exceptional football career in Europe. In 2005, during the run up, he lost the presidency to Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. In 2011 also, while he was seeking the vice-presidency, he didn’t make it as his party refused to participate in the second round of the presidential election, after Prince Johnson who was third, pledged his support to Madam Sirleaf. The CDC claimed that it was cheated.

“I have always won during the elections, but my victories were stolen from me”, Weah told the AFP on Monday, December 29, 2014.

He says it’s about time to start working for his people, adding that Montserrado Country residents, who elected him in office, are his priority.

“It is now about time to start working for the people of Montserrado County, and that is my priority “, he concluded.
