IE Raised Over US$40,000

Over forty thousand United States Dollars ($40,000.00) were last Saturday evening raised in Monrovia by the Tolbert led administration of the Invincible Eleven or IE and Majestic Sports Association for the possible restructuring and resurrection of the Football and Basketball teams of the club.

Dr. Richard Tolbert – President

The funds raise coincided with a grand Inaugural ball reception held at the Monrovia City hall for the new leadership of the club. Players of the club’s various teams have been complaining about the lack of support from the administration.

This has been a serious handicap to the team in such a way that players could not perform to the best of their ability. The new administration has vowed to correct these deficiencies. This determination of the new administration was expressed by the over sixty new Board of Directors who were also inducted at the Inaugural and funds raise dinner on Saturday.

They looked desperately ready to fully support the various teams to successive victories as they were all seen dipping thousands out of their individual pockets in response to the club’s “Prezo” cry for help.

Prior to the February 27 I E’S election that led to Richard Tolbert ascendancy to the presidency of the club, I E had no bus for players, no office space, and the basic needs of the players could not be provided.

The new leadership which is just two months and six days old has been able to rationalized the technical staff of the football team, has secured an Office space, launched a membership drive both local and internationally, and is at the verge of paying the amount of $7,000.00 USD, representing accumulated unpaid registration and other fees by the Club’s Basketball Team over the past years.

Though the targeted amount of $135,000.00 USD was not raised, but it is believed that the initial amount of $40,300.00USD raised at the weekend will go a long way in solving the mammoth problems associated with the club.

Meanwhile the President of I E and Majestic Sports Association Richard V. Tolbert has promised to make  the club Liberia’s “# 1” in the next one year in both Basketball and Football. As part of his inaugural speech on Saturday evening the “Prezo” of the “Yellow Boys” reaffirmed his campaign’s promise of corporate sponsorship, urging the players to play to win. Richard Tolbert stressed that sponsors would need good results in response for their money.

Describing I E as Liberia only unifier, Tolbert assured the club Fans both at home and abroad that “the time has come that I E would once again become Liberia, Africa and the World’s best Sports Club.”

Earlier, making remarks as she inducts I E officials into office, the Minister of Youth and Sports Etmonia David Tarpeh reminded the inductees that it is their responsibility to at all time respond to the need and plague of the people they lead.

“Congratulations and please demonstrate the confidence reposed in you,” the MYS Boss stressed as she administered the oath of office to the I E “transformers.”

Those Inducted as officials of I E for a four year tenure are, Richard V. Tolbert President, Alfred Chie Sayon Vice President for Technical Services, Francois R. Junius Vice President for Administration, Momolu V. O. Sirleaf Secretary General and Jonathan Sogbie Vice President for Fan Clubs.

The ceremony was attended by high profile government officials some of whom are also members of the clubs’ Board of Directors including Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan, Lands Mines & Energy Minister Eugene Shannon, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Tokpah Mulbah among others.
