Reports emanating from the Ministry of Youth and Sports say the National Inter-Ministerial & Government Agencies League previously scheduled to kickoff this Friday, April 30, 2010 has suffered a setback.
The official kickoff date of the tournament will be announced later. In another development, the Chairman of the organizing Committee Murvee Gray has been replaced with Wotorh Andersen.
Speaking to the New Dawn Sports yesterday via mobile phone, the new chairman of the organizing Committee Wotorh Andersen confirmed the information, and said that lots of work need to be done, beginning with getting the ministers and director involved with the tournament.
He said it is due to the slow pace in registration of would-be-participants that has led to the rescheduling of the tournament to a later date which is not yet known.
Andersen did not say when the new kickoff date of the competition is, but said a final registration date has been set for the 8th of May. According to him, until the time of the interview (yesterday), only six ministries had so far registered.
Some thing contrary to what the former chairman of the organizing committee Murvee Gray had earlier told this Paper. All efforts made by the New Dawn Sports to contact Murvee Gray for subsequent comment(s) on this issue proved fruitless as his phone rang endlessly without any response.
Meanwhile, a big meeting with all Sport Directors of various Government Institutions takes place this afternoon at the sport center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Until Press time, the agenda of the meeting was not known, but it is believed that it will center on the pending inter-Ministerial League especially the issue of a new official kickoff date.
