Jilted Husband Kills Rival
Nimba County Police say a Guinean soldier has reportedly opened fire on two men, killing one instantly, and seriously injuring the other near the Liberia-Guinea border.
The Head of LNP Criminal Services Department in Nimba County told UNMIL Radio that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning at the Guinean town of Day-wee, close to the Liberian mining town of Yekepa.
Inspector James Kartoe said that the injured man, who fled to the Liberian side for rescue, and the deceased were Liberians, but the Guinean soldiers disputed this saying, the victims were Guineans.Â
Inspector Kartoe said the deceased was alleged to have had an affair with the wife of the Guinean soldier, and that he, along with the friend, were ambushed by the Guinean soldier.The injured man, who is in a critical condition, has been admitted at the ArcelorMittal Hospital in Yekepa.
