Journalist recommends one-on one strategy in Ebola fight

A Liberian journalist is recommending one-on-one campaign strategy, if Ebola must be eradicated from Liberia. Journalist Singbeh Bridgestone Siakor, said instead of government officials riding around in tinted glasses and talking on radio about the virus, they should travel to all parts of the country, especially rural communities to educate citizens one one-on-one about the deadly disease.

He said, though awareness on radio is necessary, but many Liberians still hold the perception that government officials are only strategizing to squander the country’s money under the guise of fighting Ebola.

Singbeh Bridgestone, manager of a community radio station Gbaisue FM in Weala, Margibi County, made the assertion recently when he appeared on one of the station’s famous programs, “The Youth Forum”.

He indicated that when the locals see government officials in their areas, they will take the outbreak seriously and buttress government’s efforts. He said his statement is prompted by a survey conducted since the outbreak and has observed that many people still doubt the existence of Ebola.
