Kizito community elect’s leadership

Residents of Kizito community in Paynesville have elected a new leadership headed by Mr. Samuel Freeman. Mr. Freeman defeated Mr. Samuel T. Ciggar to ascend to the community chairmanship.

This is the first time for residents of Kizito to have participated in a democratic process aimed at electing prominent individuals to steer the affairs of their community, ahead of the 2017 general and presidential elections in Liberia.

Announcing the election results on the campus of the Kizito Catholic School, the chairman of the elections commission Mr. Arthur PayeTopoe, Sr. said out of the total votes cast, Mr. Freeman received 303, while his opponent Mr. Samuel T. Ciggar received 156 votes, respectively.

Mr. Zunlomah B. Zobada, who contested for the co-chairmanship was whipped by his challenger Mr. Edward Kaimoe 213 to 155 votes. For the youth chairman position, Mr. Habakku Kpanah defeated Mr. Nelson N. Jallah 182 to 175 votes.
The election commission disclosed there were 10 invalid votes during the entire electoral process, and that there was no protest after the polls. Speaking to reporters at the end of the exercise, chairman-elect Mr. Samuel Freeman assured his fellow compatriots of his preparedness to unify the community.

He called on the losers to join hands with his administration to deliver basic social services badly needed by the people of Kizito community. He then commanded all those who participated in the election for their commitment and dedication to the community which will go a long way in enhancing speedy development there.
