The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) will this Wednesday and Saturday, June 15 & 18, 2011, conduct awareness forums for Sinoe and Maryland Counties, respectively.

The LACC seeks to create awareness on the Act establishing the Commission and to educate the public about its role in the fight against corruption as contemplated by the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS). The Commission has already conducted similar forum for thirteen (13) counties. The Sinoe and Maryland Forums are the last of the fifteen (15) counties of Liberia.

The forums bring together stakeholders including the civil society, the media, UNMIL, leadership of the two counties, traditional leaders as well as relevant government ministries and agencies.

During the two forums, Commissioners and staff of the LACC and the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) will present papers on topics relating to the Act establishing the Commission and the overall fight against corruption.
