Members of the Liberia Athletics Federation or LAF have approved the organization’s budget for 2015 at an Extraordinary Congress held at the head offices of the Liberia National Olympic Committee over the weekend.

The proposed budget was endorsed by Congress and will be used to cover activities of the Federation for 2015.

Some LAF activities include the Liberia Marathon scheduled in Monrovia in August, and the IAAF World Championship in Beijing, China from 27-30 August, 2015.

Other competitions are the Africa Games in Brazzaville form September 3-18; the second African youth championship that will be played in Mauritius from April 23-26; the Boxing Day athletics competition in the Sierra Leonean Capital, Freetown, in December as well as training camps for local athletes for youth and the junior, national club championships and regional Athletes championship.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress, the vice president for the Athletics Federation, Gboe Wilson, said the Federation will do all it can to execute the programs for this year.

He said due to the Ebola outbreak last year, no sporting activity was possible but with the passage of the budget for 2015, the Federation is going full blast.
