LAF goes to the poll on Saturday

The Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) Elections Commission will conduct elections on Saturday, 25 November to elect new officers for the federation.


The new leadership will run the federation from 2018 to 2022 for the next quadrennial in consonance with the Bylaws and Constitution of the LAF, and the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), which calls for elections to be held after every four years The chairman of the three – man election commission Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, has released the Voters Roll (VR) along with elections guidelines for the elections of the federation at the headquarters of the Liberia National Olympics Committee (LNOC) on Randall Street, Monrovia.

The listing of the VR include Mr. Mulbah Zaza (President); Madam Gbour Wilson (Vice President for Administration); Mr. Frederick Krah (Vice President for Technical Affairs); Mr. Korkula Roberts (Treasurer); Cllr. Sylvester Rennie (Chairman on Arbitrary) and Mr. John Pettiquoi (Chairman on Protocol).

Others are Mr. Frederick Massaquoi (Chairman of Coaches Association); Mr. Kesselee Kanneh (Chairman on Technical Committee); Mr. Emmanuel Argu (Chairman on Medical); Mr. Tarpeh Usayee (Chairman on Athletes Commission) and Mr. Leroy M. Sonpon (Chairman of Publicity and Public Affairs). The remaining are Liberty Athletics Club; Conquerors Athletics Club; Fast Track Athletics Club; Fast Spike Athletics Club and Zoyah Athletics Club.

The LAF 59th General Assembly will bring together members of the Executive Committee and two representatives each from the six registered clubs. The guidelines call for a non-refundable registration fee of US$300, US$250 and US$200 which are to be paid by applicants for the position of President, Vice President for Administration, Vice President for Technical Affairs, as well as Financial Secretary and Treasurer, respectively to the Commission.

According to LAF, “Only institutions and individuals who are qualified as per the listing of the Liberia Atlethic Federation (LAF) shall be eligible to contest.

The list of eligible candidates will be published by the LAF Elections Commission on Tuesday, 21 November at the LAF’s Offices on Randal Street, Monrovia, and in some local Newspapers.”
