LAGBCaffirms magna cum laude on 4 graduates

The Liberia Assemblies of God Bible College (LAGBC) situated in Brewerville City, suburb of Monrovia has awarded four candidates with Magna cum laude in Bachelor of Theology at its 19th Commencement and Convocation held at the First Assemblies of God Church on Buchanan Street in Monrovia.

The honorees include Florence S. D. Wion, Theresa T. S. Jolokleh, Alphonso A. Dean and Saikantekun J. Slober were awarded Magna cum laude by the college.  They hail from Grand Gedeh, Grand Kru, Nimba and River Gee Counties respectively. However, student William A. Mulbah, who hails from Lofa County, received cum laude in Bachelor of Theology.

Three other students of the LAGBC, Ernest G. L. Moore of Grand Bassa, Peterson O. Slewion of Sinoe, and Quieeyato J. Korkor, Sr. of River Gee Counties also received degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology.

Delivering the commencement address on Saturday, 5 November the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship Union of Liberia, Rev. Dr. Jasper S. Ndablor urged the graduates to work for the Lord Jesus Christ by preaching the Good News in towns, villages and cities across Liberia to save lost souls.

Rev. Dr. Ndablor also told the graduates they would receive God’s blessings when they work harder in doing those things that are required of God such as being dedicated, committed, keeping to one doctrine, abhorring corrupt practices and building God’s House, among others.

Graduate Rev. Alphonso S. D. Dean, who read the valedictory address, challenged his colleagues to remain steadfast in the execution of the call to duty by the Lord Jesus Christ and keep away from those practices that are against the Holy Scripture, the Bible.

He asked the leadership of the college to continue to pray for the graduates so that God’s protection and guidance would be with them in the performance of their call to duty. The LAGBC, which was established in 1980, has the mandate to train pastors, evangelists, apostles, prophets and teachers to do the work of the ministry, and is committed to the primary task of equipping the saints for the work of service and to meeting high standards of scholarship that prepare graduates to fulfill God’s Mission on earth.

The college also offered Bachelor Degree in Bible and Theology from 1980 to 2005, and introduced the Bachelor of Theology Degree in 2006. On October 3, 2007, the LAGBC launched two extension centers in Southeastern Liberia, including Pleebo, Maryland County and Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, respectively.

Responding to growing demand for higher theological training for ministers in Grand Bassa and Nimba counties, an extension center was opened in Ganta City, Nimba County, in October 2008.
