Rep. Adam Bill Corneh and a partial view of food items donated
The offices of Bong County District # 6 Representative have distributed food items among Muslims in Montserrado, Margibi and Bong Counties to mark the Holy Ramadan – a period of fast and prayers.
Representative Adam Bill Corneh also donated cash and assorted food in various locations, including several bags of 25kg rice, oil, bags of onions, mayonnaise, butter, sugar and salt, among others. In Margibi, the items were presented to Muslims in Kakata, while in Bong County, residents from Corneh Farm, Kpakolokoya-ta, Tumutu, Frehla, Marmu and Totota benefited.
Other areas in Salala District that also benefited include Donfa, Kolola, Zeansue, Gbartala, Gbonkonnima and Gbonueh. At one of the distribution sites in Donfa, the administrative assistant to the Lawmaker, Keith Harris remarked: “We were sent by Hon. Adam Bill Corneh, your own son and you know normally when the Ramadan comes, for the past 10 years, Hon. Corneh has always been identifying with the Islamic Community and we his lieutenants look at it as a tradition.”
Mr. Harris said they have always reminded the Lawmaker and he has always told them that he will always be there not only for Islam, but Christians as well. According to him, Rep. Corneh urged the Muslims to pray for Allah’s blessings on Liberia and Liberians during their fast period for peace, prosperity and good health.
Receiving the food stuff and cash on behalf of the Muslims in the area, Imam Hassan Sheriff said, for the last 10 years, Representative Corneh has always expressed the gesture to them in the district, adding that it was not strange or first of its kind.
Imam Sheriff said they will continue to pray for the lawmaker so that Allah will continue to bless him to keep up his good work in the district, stressing that they will especially pray for his well-being because they heard that he is not well.
Also speaking to reporters over the weekend at his office in Corneh Farm, Salala District, lower Bong County, Rep. Adam Bill Corneh put the cost of items donated at over US$3,000. Corneh said he bought 90 bags of rice (25Kg) and presented more than 300,000 Liberian Dollars along with the food stuff.
The Salala District Lawmaker said he started the donation in Montserrado and extended to Margibi and Bong Counties. He narrated that his father used to do the same and he took over from him even prior to his election as a lawmaker for the district. According to him, he also identifies with the Christian community whenever it has problems or programs.
