LDLD, MIA Conduct Agro-processing Workshop

The Liberia Decentralization and Local Development (LDLD) Programme and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in collaboration with Center Songhai is commencing a two-weeks training programme on 20th September to 1st October in Modern Farming, Agro-processing and Allied Income Generating Activities.

The objective of the current training programme is to provide hands-on training to Project Management Teams from the Local Development Fund (LDF) pilot counties (Bomi, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Rivercess, River Gee and Sinoe) in:

·    Mechanization and commercialization of agriculture
·    Modern cropping practices
·    Agro-processing and post-harvest technology
·    And other agricultural and allied income generating activities such as inland fisheries, poultry and piggery farming

Moreover, farmers will also participate in eco-friendly farming practices such as making and utilizing organic fertilizers.

The county and district administrations through the LDF programme have provided agricultural tools, agricultural and agro-processing machinery to empower the target communities to modernize and mechanize the farming in the six pilot counties as part of the emerging decentralization and community driven local development.
