LFA Releases Golden Rules For Congress

After weeks of delay, the Liberia Football Association or LFA through its secretariat has released the guidelines for its elections at the 15TH ordinary Congress, schedule for March 20, 2010.

According to the guidelines released in Monrovia Tuesday, a copy of which is in the possession of The New Dawn, only members of the LFA may propose candidates for the office of the President.

Quoting Article XXXIII, Section 33.3 of the FA’s revised Statute, the guideline maintains that every candidate in the election for Vice Presidents and Executive Committee members must be proposed by at least one member of his or her association.

Also contained in the FA’s revised statute that is being applied in the upcoming elections, is that all proposed candidates shall not be above 60-years and younger than 25.

Still guiding candidates further, the secretariat required that all proposed candidates must not have been adjudged guilty of the commission of any crime(s) criminal in nature by a court of competent jurisdiction.

While proposed candidates must not have been removed from his/her local football organization for a serious offense.

Meanwhile, Registration for candidates runs from the 9th to the 22nd of this month, while the listing of qualified candidates shall be circulated to member Associations before publication on February 25th 2010.
