Liberia Hosts Senegal Saturday

Liberia national Under-17 football team will this Saturday, April 10 2010 host their Senegalese counterparts in a qualifying match.

The match, which is expected to be played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Central Monrovia, is said to be part of several qualifiers for the 9th African Under-17 Cup scheduled to take place in Rwanda later this year.

Already, 25 young footballers between the ages 15 to 17 have since begun training for the match at hand and the competition at large.

In a brief conversation with the New Dawn Sports at one of the team’s training section on Monday, Mr. Hester Gray, the head coach, said out of the more than 200 young footballers who last Saturday turned up for justification, only 25 will make the new under 17 team.

According to him, he left the screening process to six Executive Committee Members of LFA because he did not want to be accused of being bias.

But he did not release the names of the 25 players. Meanwhile, Mr. Gray is encouraging his fellow compatriots to turn out in mass come this Saturday to cheer the boys to victory.
