Liberia mourns T.C. Gould

Liberia’s former Solicitor General and a lead lawyer in the ongoing Global Witness alleged bribery case Cllr. Theophilus C. Gould is dead.


Cllr. Gould, 61, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital early Saturday morning April 8, 2017 few minutes after he collapsed at his Sinkor residence.

Family sources told the New Dawn Saturday that Cllr. Gould had just returned from the wake keeping of the late Mary Brownell at the Camp Johnson Road Episcopal Church when he fell off and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Cllr. Gould was the Chief Executive Officer at Kemp & Associates Legal & Consultancy Chambers, a former chairman of the former ruling National Patriotic Party or NNP.
He was a controversial party official who was accused of unilaterally selling the party’s property to an investor.

Cllr. Gould served under the Charles Taylor regime as Solicitor General, the same position he held under the late Gyude Bryant during the interim regime from 2003 to 2005. The late T.C. Gould was also a former President of the Liberian Bar Association. A family and a religious man who also served as chairman of the Monrovia Open Bible Church, located on the Old Road in Sinkor.-New Dawn
