All is on course for Liberia’s participation in the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup, acting Team Manager Wotor Anderson, has said. According to him, the competition is scheduled to take place in Abeakuta, Ogun State, Nigeria from 9th through 18th of April this year.
He said, already, twenty-five local players have begun training at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) and Samuel Kanyoun Doe (SKD) Sports Complex respectively.
In a chat with New Dawn Sports yesterday, Mr. Anderson said, of the twenty-five players, eighteen will make the trip.
Mr. Anderson added that an official of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) and also another from the Liberia Football Association (LFA), including a five-man Technical, Coaching and Medical staff will make the trip to Nigeria.
According to the rules for the upcoming competition, all participating teams should be at the venue of the competition three days prior to the official start of the competition.
The twenty-five players currently training to represent Liberia are: Goal keepers Saylee Swen of LPRC, Joe Gaynayee of the National County Meet All Star and Urey Mulbah of Gedeh & Son.
Others are defenders Adolphus Carr and Savies Kanneh of the National County Meet All Stars, Teah Dannio of LPRC, Trokon Zeon of IE, Solomon Wesseh and Adonis Ketter of Gedeh and Sons.
Midfielders making up the team include Nagbah Taplah and Isaac Popo of the National County Meet All Stars, Mombo Blamo of Jasmine Rangers, as well as Abel Burmah of Watanga.
Strikers starring for the Lone Star in Nigeria are Dweh Allison of AKFC, Virtaly Seah of LISCR, James solo Roberts of Black Star, Sholee Deco the National County Meet All Stars, as well as Andreas N. Anderson among others.
