Liberia Suffers Another Defeat

The poorly organized senior national team of Liberia Monday suffered her second defeat at the ongoing West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup currently underway in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The team lost to Ghana 3- 0 in the competition.

The National team made up of mainly players from the just ended 2009 County Meet in their first match on last Saturday lost 1 -3 to Burkinabe in the same Competition. Liberia will today meet Togo in her last match at the tournament.

Two weeks prior to the team’s departure for the sub-regional Soccer fiesta in Nigeria, there were lots of concerns and fears about the pedigree of players but there were not any official response from the team’s management.

The 2010 WAFU Cup is the first under the Amos Adamu lead Administration since the sub- regional Football governing body entrapped dormancy for at least a little over a decade.  It can be recall that in 2008 Adamu promised to revive all of the activities of WAFU.

In 2002, the Competition was abandoned after Army Rebels took control of Bouake, an Ivorian City where the Tournament was being held.
