Liberia to introduce Postal Financial Services

The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPT) has announced that it will commence the introduction of Postal Financial Services to the people of Liberia in the future. “Most of our postal facilities have been renovated, and in the not too distant future we will introduce the postal financial services,” the Minister of Post and Telecommunications Cllr. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah said Wednesday, 9 October.

In a special statement delivered at the program marking the observance of the 14th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Cllr. Cooper announced that few weeks from now, the entire mailing system will be fully automated.

He notes that all the equipment that are needed are in the country.According to Cllr. Cooper, the Ministry is looking to insurring out-going mails, adding that mail insurance is very important in the event where parcels do not reach the final destination.

Minister Cooper discloses that the Ministry has completed the numbering of every structure and vacant lots, beginning at Congo Town Back Road to Johnson Street and other parts of central Monrovia.Meanwhile Assistant Post Minister for Research, Planning and Statistics Cyrus Kamara says the celebration is being held under the theme: “UPU 145th Year Delivering Development.”

He says UPU has mandated member countries to celebrate the day in commemoration of its establishment.“This greater event is to create awareness to people and business, where people have activities and introduce new products and services to its people,” he concludes.By Lewis S. Teh
