Liberia YMCA Kicks Off 2025 Membership Campaign

Monrovia, Liberia – August 10, 2025: The Liberia Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) is marking a historic milestone, 144 years of continuous service to young people and communities across the nation. In commemoration, the organization has launched its 2025 Membership Fund Drive under the theme “365 Y Every Day; A Better You.”

The celebration kicked off with an exceptional Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, August 10, at the Harvest Intercontinental Cathedral Ministry, where members, staff, and partners gathered to give thanks to God for the YMCA’s enduring impact and legacy.

A formal program will follow on Monday, August 11, at the YMCA Gymnasium on Broad Street, starting at 10:00 a.m. The event will bring together YMCA members, alumni, staff, and guests, including participants of the Children’s Vacation Basketball Program and members of the YMCA Membership Campaign Committee. A special engagement session with parents and the public will also be held to highlight the YMCA’s role in shaping lives and communities.

The 2025 Membership Fund Drive aims to strengthen the organization’s capacity to expand its services nationwide. Through its “365 Y” initiative, the YMCA will focus on year-round engagement, ensuring its programs remain accessible to more youth, families, and communities. The drive will support initiatives in education, skills development, youth leadership, healthy living, and civic responsibility.

Founded in 1881, the Liberia YMCA has stood as a pillar of hope and transformation, committed to empowering young people and fostering community development. Over the past century and four decades, it has implemented programs addressing critical social needs, including education, employment, health, and good governance, while staying true to its Christian values.

The organization is calling on members, partners, alumni, and the public to support the Membership Fund Drive, emphasizing that every contribution counts toward sustaining life-changing programs.

“The YMCA has been here for 144 years because of the unwavering support of our members and partners,” the statement read. “With your continued commitment, we will keep building better people, better communities, and a better Liberia every day of the year.”
