Liberian referee George Roger gets first int’l assignment

Liberian referee George S. Roger has gotten his first international assignment as center referee in the Championship of African Nations (CHAN), after joining the international referee list in 2016 as FIFA badge center referee.

CAF has appointed referee Roger to take charge of Guinea’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN) Zone West A preliminary round second leg qualifier against Guinea Bissau on 22 July in Conakry.

In April 2016, he went for a youth talent referee course in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé with 33 center and assistant referees from Africa and returned home with good result that keeps Liberian referee on the map after Isaac Montgomery in 2014 and 2015.Roger makes his first international appearance as reserved to Jerry Yekeh in the CAF competition in Ghana this year.

Roger is one of the outstanding referees who has been performing in the local league and header an international friendly with Sierra Leone. The 30 – year – old is the head of delegation, followed by Johnson Gbartea as assistant one, while Sekou Kannah serves as assistant two. Isaac Montgomery is fourth official in Conakry, Guinea.

Roger started his professional career as referee in 2010 and with a first match officiated on Tusa Field between Young Black Star and Crystal Palace. As part of his referee abilities, Roger officiated a beef-up match that saw LISCR FC forced Union Duala to a 2-2 draw in Monrovia.
