LISCR FC Trust Tournament kicks off this weekend

LISCR FC Trust Tournament is expected to kick off this weekend at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) after four years. The tournament will bring together eight teams from the Liberia Football Association national league to compete for a $30,000 cash prize and trophy.


The third edition of the trust tournament is [hosted] by the champions of the Liberia Football Association first LISCR FC with four first division clubs, four second and third division clubs.

According to the organization’s committee chairmen Mr. Harrington S. Weah, the tournament will kick off on 14 December and end on the 17 December at the ATS in Monrovia.

He says the tournament is to test strength of the teams before the league opens in 2018. According to the draw, top seeded Monrovia Club Breweries and NPA Anchor will kick off with the opening match on December 14 before Watanga FC and newly second division side Bristol FC of Margibi County clash in the day’s second encounter.

On Thursday December 15, the host team LISCR FC faces Pags FC in the first leg and Keitrace FC takes on Small Town FC. Mr. Weah says the winners from the first round of the tournament will advance to the semifinals slated for Saturday while the winner from game one will face the winner from game two.

The winners from game three and four will also face each other in the last semifinals. Meanwhile, the only female president in the first division Mama Kotpo of Keitrace FC has vowed to showcase young players in this predicament season games.

For this tournament all teams were given US$250.00 each for preparation fees ahead of the tournament’s kickoff.
