LISCR vs. Berekum Chelsea Sunday

The first international club championship match for Liberia’s LISCR FC comes alive this Sunday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia. The club is expected to prove itself as champions of Liberia against  Berekum Chelsea of Ghana.

The match is the first leg of the preliminary qualification of the African Clubs Championship. The second leg will be play on the 4th of Match in Accra, Ghana. LISCR FC moved to its Kakata camping site on Monday ahead of Sunday’s encounter to augment its level of concentration for the home clash.

Lone Star’s former Coach Frank Jericho Nagbe has remained inconsistent in maintaining a set of defenders in the club’s three league matches this season from which they collected seven points and three goals with one goal against.

The club’s defenders already in shape for the Sunday clash are Trokon Zeon a right-backer and Daniel Woto, a left-back, while Coach Nagbe will have to pick two of the four center-stoppers Alvin Dixon, Emmanuel Tarpeh, Zayzay Kollie and Michael Jeasue.

LISCR’s defensive quarter is already solid with the presence of Michael Macaulay and Gideon Williams, both of whom joined the training camp on Thursday after playing in Liberia 0-2 home defeat to visiting Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Garnerville FC last season’s top goal netter James Richardson who was promoted to the club’s senior side LISCR FC and scored twice in LISCR FC’s 2-1 victory over Invincible Eleven 2-1 two weeks ago during the national league, is expected to feature.

The club offensive section was recently boosted with the return of Liberia’s premiership Golden Boost holder Vatali Sie from Israel. The club also brought over Joshua Morris from LPRC Oilers as a winger supporting forward.

Strikers Mohammad Varney, Yamie Yancy and Emmet Wleh are all battling to book one of the starting slots in Jericho’s formation come Sunday. The match will be the biggest fixture in LISCR’s history since its foundation.

The club has pumped in huge cash in securing the services of defensive duo Gideon Williams from Watanga FC and Michael Macaulay  who landed from M.C Breweries, as well as Yamie Yancy from NPA Anchors. Right-back Trokon Zeon recently parted company with IE, while right forward Joshua Morris penned with LISCR from LPRC Oilers.

Center defender Alvin Dixon rejoined the team from Israel after playing half season for Hapoel Nazareth Illit. The club offensive pattern has been operated by Vatali Sie and James Richardson for the last three matches; James played in Ghana for Young Heats some years back and his experience gathered from there may help the club on Sunday.

LISCR FC’s center Emmanuel Tarpeh was employed by Ghanaian 2nd division outfit Metro Star FC back in 2006-07, playing two seasons along side Prince Somah currently in Sweden.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian champions are 2nd on their league table with 27 points from 15 matches played in the first phase of the Ghanaian premiership. Liberia’s Knockout Champions Invincible Eleven progressed to the next stage of the African Confederation Cup after Mansaba redrew from the preliminary fixture.

The away fixture was scheduled for this weekend, but the Liberian side has gain enough of time to work more considering its dismal performance in the ongoing Liberian league.
