LNP Human Resource Division ends intensive CJL seminar at Cuttington University

By Joseph Titus Yekeryan

The criminal justice system in Liberia, like many countries, is tasked with keeping citizens safe and protecting their properties.

It is a massive system or organizational component that includes law enforcement agencies, courts and correction departments.

However, these responsibilities become even much easier to perform when the citizens, including law enforcement students, understand the workings of the police and also their role as citizens within the society.

In an effort to enhance their knowledge in similar capacity, about thirty students majoring and minoring in different field within the John and Judy Gaye College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences gathered at the Thesis Defense hall on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 to form part of a one day Intensive Criminal Justice training.

Mr. Chris Boyd, the Dean of the college considers the event as very important on grounds that it will help enhance the knowledge of criminal justice students who are currently enrolled.

Mr. Boyd has been doing all he can to ensure that students of his college as well as Cuttington University get the best quality of education; the number one priority of the university.

Facilitated by the Head of the Liberia National Police Human Resource Division, Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, the training had a specific focus on Legal power of the Police/Use of force with case investigation.

The event saw exchanges of ideas as well as corrections by Mr. Biago, a well experienced law enforcement officer in Liberia.

Biago further expressed his willingness to keep sharing knowledge with Cuttington Students who he said are eager to learn.

“I want to firstly tell Mr. Boyd thank you for inviting me, these are things we want to be seeing as Law Enforcers. I can assure you that no matter what it is, you will continue to learn new things once you are always willing to do so” he added.

At the end of the seminar, Dainien Ella Johnson, one of the Leaders of the session extended commendations to Mr. Chris Boyd for his innovation and also to the Liberia National Police Human Resource Division for the knowledge.

She assured the LNP that the knowledge gained will be used as Criminal Justice Students as well as citizens.

“As CJL students, it is always appropriate for us to understand these basic steps in the discharge of the police duties with specific references to Legal Power of the Police/Use of force” Dainien concluded.
