Local group attracts US$6k medical materials for Fish Town Hospital, River Gee County

A local civic group with membership in River Gee County and Monrovia has disclosed that they have received some assorted medical materials worth more than Six Thousand United States Dollars (US$6,000) intended for the referral Hospital in Fish Town River Gee County.

The civic group, Friends of Welley Alice Wilson divulge to newsmen in Monrovia that they have received the medical materials from their principal, Mrs. Wilson who is currently in the United States.

According to some executives of the organization, Mr. Oliver Wesseh along with Mr. Keifer Wilson, the medical materials are currently warehoused in Monrovia as they are tackling the challenge of transporting the medical materials to Fish Town River Gee County by the weekend.


Friends of Welley Alice Wilson

Mr. Wesseh has averred that the Friends of Alice have taken cognizance that the only referral hospital in the County has been faced with severe challenges, a situation that has drawn the attention of the FOA to have appealed to Mrs. Welley Alice Wilson for her intervention to progressively alleviate some of the hospital difficulties.

Mr. Wesseh says amongst the medical materials received, and to be taken to the Fish Town Hospital in River Gee County are; several barrels containing nursing uniforms, blankets for hospital beds, patients’ gowns, reusable isolation gowns, and bath towels, among others.

Other materials included in the supplies are four cartoons of notebooks, pencils, and sharpeners for the disabled community in Fish Town, and the Jablokon Elementary School in River Gee County, along with six hundred (600) pieces of nose masks.

The Fish Town Hospital is located in River Gee County, accounting for more than 25,000 square miles away from the Liberian capital Monrovia, and has a notoriety for bad roads, mostly during one of the two climatic seasons in Liberia, the rainy season as compared to the dry season. The region is referred to, by many Liberians as the southeastern region which encapsulates other counties including, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, Sinoe, and Grand Kru Counties.
