Lofa: Girl, 8, Raped By ZRTTI Graduate

Junior Kollie, 28, a trainee at the Zorzor Rural Teacher Training Institute’s class of 2009/2010 is reported to have allegedly raped an 8 year-old girl in Zorzor District, Lofa County.

The disclosure was made at the weekend by Johnson S. Beyon, Director of ZRTTI during the first post war graduation exercise of the institution.

According to Annie Doewee, mother of the girl, her daughter on the faithful day of June 17 this year was seen by a neighbor at the door of Kollie’s room in a very fearful mood with tears running down from her eyes and fresh blood oozing from under her dress.

She explained that upon noticing this, her neighbor immediately proceeded into the room only to see him putting on his boxer, while the under-clothes of her daughter lay on the floor soaked with fresh blood.

An examination conducted by a registered nurse assigned at the ZRTTI mini-clinic confirmed that the victim was tempered with.

The Police authority in Zorzor has arrested and charged Junior Kollie with first degree felony and forwarded him to the Voinjama magisterial court in Voinjama, Lofa County for further investigation.

Kollie has, however, pleaded not guilty, noting that the report was a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation.
