Lofa lawmaker pleads for health centers

Lofa County District #2 Rep. Juila F. Wiah is calling on the Government of Liberia to come to the aid of her people by providing more health centers in her district.

Speaking to our reporter Wednesday, 30 May, Rep. Wiah said with 40,000 residences in Lofa County District #2, there is only one health care center in her district.

She says the healthcare system in her district is very challenging because the one health care center there is at the end of her district, noting that when people get sick, they find difficulty to get there because of the road condition.

According to her, within the Gola Home, she has one clinic that is highly supported with doctors but there is no medicine.

She also says she has been having talks with Senator Peter S. Coleman to see reason to inform the Ministry of Health to look in that direction and intervene.

The Lofa lawmaker also says the road condition leading to her district is in a very bad condition.

She says she has been talking to the Ministry of Public Works to complete a bridge it has been working on because that road is the only way used to get to her district.

She says if Public Works does not work on it, citizens in that area will be cut off in that region.

She explains that she has engaged the executive on the road condition in her district, and she has been told that a team is being sent to do assessment to see how the road can be done.
