Lonestar cell employee arrested for theft

The Liberia National Police has arrested an employee of Lonestar Cell MTN for allegedly embezzling more than 60-thousand United States Dollars and over 400-thousand Liberian Dollars from the Company.

According to a press release, the suspect, Mrs. Suzette A. Blake-Binda, Central Regional Sales Supervisor, was picked up by police officers early Thursday morning following several attempts to have her attend a disciplinary hearing as required by Lonestar Cell MTN policy. She is currently being interrogated and charged at the Liberia National Police Headquarters.

Lonestar Cell MTN strongly believes in the rule of law and therefore holds that the arrest of Mrs. Binda is a way forward in ensuring that due process is accorded in keeping with law.  “It is our conviction that the arrest and subsequent prosecution of Mrs. Suzettee A. Blake-Binda will also serve as deterrence for employees, who harbor similar intention”, the release read.

Prior to her arrest, the suspect worked in the Sales and Distribution Department with the responsibility to supervise sales and Distribution of the company’s products in Montserrado County. In the discharge of her duties, Mrs. Binda marketed products inclusive of scratch cards and phones and allegedly diverted proceeds to personal use.

At the same time, Lonestar Cell MTN warns that it will not countenance any form of financial indiscipline from its employees. “We expect all staff to practice complete accountability as enshrined in our core values.” Press Release
