Lonestar Cell Foundation Launched

The Lone Star Cell-MTN communications network has announced the establishment of a foundation here as part of its 10 years anniversary celebration. The Foundation, the GSM Company said is another way in which the company is determined to give back to the Liberian Society.

Under the foundation, key Corporate Social Responsibilities Investments (CSRI) would be addressed in more sustainable way including Education and Health. The corporation says it believes that it must live as a corporate social responsible partner and give back to the Liberian nation and people.

Speaking at a program marking the observance of the company’s 10 years stay in Liberia, the Lone Star Cell MTN CEO, Mazen Mroue said the next ten years and into the future, the company will continue to dream new dreams and work diligently to provide quality, innovative and cutting-edge technology, as he welcomed the landing of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine fiber optic cable in Liberia.

He announced that Lonestar is investing further in their infrastructure to ensure effective use of the bandwidth that will be provided through the fiber optic cable, adding, “Over the last ten years of its existence, Lonestar Cell MTN has not only continuously repeated its promise to serve the Liberian people, but has also actively pursued initiatives that give meaning to that enduring promise like becoming a part of the Cable Consortium of Liberia and supporting the vision of the government of Liberia that would, in addition to other things, provide connectivity to public universities, hospitals and other institutions to promote e-initiatives for development,” he noted.

He said while they are working extensively with the Government to commission the Fiber Optic cable in the country by the end of this year, his company has just completed successfully the cross boarder connectivity linking Liberia to another Submarine Fiber Optic Cable through Ivory Coast as an advanced and strategic step to ensure high level of technology redundancy and also as an interim solution to upgrade their current Mobile Broadband Service to 3.9G – again first in Liberia.

He noted that Lonestar Cell operating now in Liberia for 10 years, with network services covering all the 15 counties in Liberia, Lonestar Cell MTN re-commits to the efforts of the Liberian Government in the rebuilding process of the Liberian Nation particularly the Telecom sector.
