Lonestar Cell MTN gives away another million

Liberia’s leading telecommunication giant, Lonestar Cell MTN has given away LRD$ 1,000,000.00 to a 23 –year old lady identified as Vivian Lai, the third person to win the company’s Scratch and Win a million dollar promotion which began since last year.

The winner of the Lonestar Cell MTN draw for January, Ms. Lai told the audience at the draw which was held at the company’s headquarters in Congo Town on Wednesday, 31 January that she answered the call from the company with skepticism fearing that it was a hoax.

Lai said she was enroute to Central Monrovia when she received the company’s call at Vamoma in Sinkor informing her as the lucky winner. She was brought at the ground of the raffle draw in the company’s premises in a convoy.

Lai who could not control her joy and excitement appearing like one being blindfolded, told the crowd that had gathered to witness the draw that she has been using her Lonestar MTN number for some 13 years now, since her mother bought her the simcard at age 10, when she was in six grade.

Lai, 23 said this was her first raffle win with her Lonestar Cell MTN number and with the excitement in her voice said “I want to encourage those that don’t have Lonestar numbers to … get Lonestar Sim Card.”

The event which was aired live on a local radio, had the company’s agent calling three other numbers that emerged as winners before Vivian, but they appeared unreachable until Vivian’s number rang and she picked the call.

The company presented a symbolic check of LRD$1m to Ms. Lai, declaring her the third winner since the GSM Company launched the campaign last year.

Lonestar Cell MTN Marketing Services Senior Manager Mr. Ibrahim L. Daramie said his company has continued to show that it cares for each and every Liberian and that the ongoing promotion is part of measures being put in place by the entity to give back to the Liberian people.

He says the company launched two promotions including “Giving Liberians 100,000 Reasons to Smile” in which 10,000 persons were given LRD$1,000 each for 100 days, totaling LRD$10m. In that campaign, he said over 10,000 persons’ lives were changed.

Beside the 100,000 Reasons to Smile promotion, he said the company also launched the Recharge to win promotion, and made a millionaire at the end of November and another in December 2017.

“So today it’s no mistake. We have come here again to make another millionaire,” Mr. Daramie said, adding that the company planned to run the promotion for four months and make four millionaires.
He says another draw will be done in February this year, urging those who are Lonestar Cell MTN subscribers to make sure to have their telephones charged and monitor it for messages or calls so that they cannot miss their chances of winning a million dollar.

Joanna Washington Davies, an official of Lonestar Cell MTN said the company is the only entity that makes millionaires, helping customers in poverty reduction. “We are here again for a third time. In November we were at Broad Street, we made a millionaire there and today he can attest to that,” she said.

She said in December, they were at one of their Point of Sales in Barnersville and made another young millionaire, adding that they are today making another Liberian a millionaire. The life – changing event was the company’s third million dollar draw since the campaign last year.
