Lonestar-MTN SIM Registration in Full Blast

Lonestar Communications Cooperation or LCC has led the way for the completion of the SIM Card registration process in Liberia.  Lonestar MTN, for the past few months, began the process of SIM registration since the mandate issued by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority or LTA that all SIM cards must be registered.

In New Kru Town, Duala and ELWA Junction last weekend, the GSM Company’s mobile centers were overwhelmed by scores of subscribers as they chatted in groups and compared SMS messages, while registering their SIM cards.

The exercise dubbed “Lonestar Cell MTN SIM Registration Festival was conducted with ease and the highest degree of accessibility at minimum speed unlike other processes elsewhere in conformity with the mandate of the LTA.

Lonestar Cell MTN, Liberia’s best and most popular GSM Company has also since deployed what it referred to as tens and tens of SIM Registration “foot soldiers” as part of its outreach throughout the various communities in Monrovia and its environs, as well as other parts of the country so that subscribers unable to reach its offices and mobile centers are afforded the opportunity to register before the October deadline.

The LTA cited many reasons, among which is the issue of security, for the mandatory registration of SIM cards in Liberia. Many subscribers have complained about receiving threatening messages from anonymous testers/individuals whose mobile numbers could not be traced to any particular name.

In many countries around the world, including Ghana and Nigeria, owners of mobile phones are under obligation to register their numbers with their respective GSM companies. Last weekend’s exercise was in consonance with the company’s desire to work with the LTA to meet the targeted results in the interest of the nation and its people.

“We thank you Lonestar Cell MTN for always making it easy for us; this company truly cares about the Liberian people. I am on my way to buy my food at Duala market, so this is convenient for me. Thank you yah Lonestar,” said Mrs. Sarah Vonzia, a subscriber seen registering her SIM.

Last week, Lonestar Cell MTN intensified efforts in the counties, launching successfully its SIM registration efforts in Bomi County. Residents of Tubmanburg and surrounding villages and towns said they were excitingly gratified that Lonestar Cell MTN had provided the opportunity to register their SIMs without difficulty.

Awareness on the extension from 8 to 10 digits was also conducted among hundreds of subscribers as they registered their SIMs. According to the Company, its efforts in the various counties will be intensified in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the Lonestar Cell MTN SIM Registration Festival continues tomorrow Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24 at the intersection of Somalia Drive and Barnesville Road and in the commercial district of Red Light in Paynesville.
