LoneStar Replies Cellcom

The LoneStar Communication Cooperation or LCC has termed as thrash claims by its rival Cellcom that other GSM companies including the LoneStar Cell lack standard equipment to comply with the Liberia Telecommunication Authority’s current mandate for all GSM companies in Liberia to allow their subscribers adapt to ten digits. Until now, GSM companies here had been dealing in six digits.

A public relations officer of Cellcom reportedly claimed that unlike his company, all other GSM companies here do not have the equipment to meet the LTA’s criterion.

But LoneStar Cell has strongly condemned the Cellcom’s claim, adding that it has been the first GSM Company in Liberia to hit the ten-digit standard by introducing 088 years back before the LTA came up with the latest pronouncement.

Addressing a news conference, the Corporate Communication Consultant of LoneStar Cell Dr. Laurence Bropleh, said how the LCC could launch the 088, which is a ten digit if the company was not equipped as claimed by Cellcom.

According to Bropleh, the LCC is walking fast with the Liberian people, while other companies claim to be running ahead because they are running without the people. He noted that shortly, all LoneStar’s subscribers using 06 will turn to the 088 while those already using 088 will maintain their numbers.

Bropleh warned Cellcom to focus on its objective in Liberia and stop bad mouthing the LoneStar Cell. He continued that Cellcom should also concentrate on paying LoneStar’s US$1.6 million debt.

Meanwhile, Bropleh has disclosed that LoneStar has increased the number of countries roaming its cell numbers, adding that LoneStar can now be used in every part of the world through its roaming network coverage. He said with the increase of countries, the company now has one of the widest roaming coverage services in the world and the biggest in Liberia.
