LOOKING INSIDE FROM OUTSIDE: Snowe’s Marriage Of Convenience

Above Article Ad

From my own analysis of the story, the New Dawn Newspaper did the story as a way of providing an understanding to some of us, who actually the politician Edwin Snowe was, and quite frankly, the paper did extremely well by giving us  enough of Snowe political life story,  though we are yet to see part two of that story.

As a regular reader of a few Liberian Newspapers, I have always taken pleasure in reading stories and articles that expose individuals and institutions whose backgrounds are really known.

After purchasing a recent copy of the New Dawn Newspaper at the Ministry of Education on Broad Street in Monrovia, I was attracted to a headline in the upper left hand corner of the paper- Snowe In Marriage Of Convenience.

Anyway, I must commend the management and editorial staff of the New Dawn Newspaper for a job well done. That profile of Mr. Snowe has made me to knowe the much talked-about Edwin Snowe, a man I have tried to get close to in order to know, but I couldn’t on a number of occasions, except his stimulating voice on the radio, mainly Truth FM.

From what I read in that story, Representative Snowe is not only an ingrate, but a betrayal to those who made him what he is today.

Digesting the information provided on the young man, coupled with his utterances at the time he was Speaker of the House of Representatives against those who made him and his present public support for President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, I think he is a man with whom it is not worthy to do business with.

We must all understand that in as much Edwin Snowe was spotted by Mr. Cyril Allen and used as a driver in the early ninties, and was gradually promoted from one position, including a petrol Supervisor in Kakata, Margibi Couinty to one of the most lucrative positions at the LPRC ( Deputy managing Director for Operations only because he was  the son-in-law of the President despite being  promoted to the twelfth grade at the St. Augustine High School in Kakata), he could also do the same to the very Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf he claims now to be supporting for a second term.

In my mind, Snowe is not a man to do business with, I believe all that he wants is the support of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to win District No, 5 in Paynesville to become Speaker again at all cost, and thereafter, get on Ellen’s back again-that is all Snowe wants now.

I also concurred with the issue raised against him by some citizens and residents of District No. 5.

I too, think that Snowe should now give way to another citizen of Paynesville to ably represent the district. I say this because I do live in that area.

Thought I did not vote for Edwin Snowe in 2005 because I did not know him, I think he he did a disservice to those who elected him. Since his election, the young man refused to return to the people-only to surface at places announcing his intention for the Senate in Montserrado County. I heard him say that in studio and at programs on a number of radio stations, including Truth FM sometimes in September of 2008 through 2009.

For him to resurface in District No. 5 to say that he wants to be re-elected as the Representative, is a complete misrepresentation bof the people’s interest and misjudgment of our ability as citizens and residents of District No. 5 to think wisely and politically.

For us in the district to do business with such a character is not only a risk, but a political suicide because when this happens, Edwin Snowe  will do whatever he feels in terms of abandonment because it would be his last term, and that he wouldn’t care for anyone as a constituent.

I wish readers of the New Dawn Newspaper and the management and editorial staff of the paper could also see my comments as a back-up to the story: Snowe In Marriage Of Convenience. I thank you.
