LRA awards taxpayers

The Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority or LRA, Madam Alfreda Tamba has underscored that tax plays a key role in the development of any nation, and should not be overlooked.

Speaking at Taxpayer Appreciation Day at the Monrovia City Hall on 1st Street in Monrovia over the weekend under the theme; “Creating a Culture of Voluntary Tax Compliance”, she says the importance of taxpaying cannot be overemphasized.

Commissioner General Tamba notes that the day is an indispensable annual event to recognize and appreciate taxpayers for contributing to the economy. “Your contribution holds the public schools and hospitals and in some cases, the private schools and hospitals through the subsidy appropriation by the national legislature”, she continues.

“The existence of road network, constructing new roads, maintenance of the police, the Army and all security institutions, this is indeed quantifiable and measureable of how indispensable taxpayers are and will forever be to [our] sustainable development as a nation.”

She further stresses that the exercise is a fundamental initiative that will strengthen the LRA’s tax education program nationwide, as a necessary agreement to attaining the higher level of truthful voluntary compliance.
