LRA explains E-platform process

The Officer-In-Charge and Acting Commissioner General for the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Madam Decontee T. King-Sackie says the LRA launched the “Electronic Filing Platform” on July 27, 2018.

She explains the electronic filing platform provides an opportunity for taxpayers to file tax returns without going to the LRA office, detailing that the platform can be downloaded on computer and worked on without internet connection, but internet connectivity can be used when sending file to LRA.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, 9 August the LRA Acting Commissioner General continues that the system tries to make the process of paying taxes very easy and affordable for all taxpayers.

“We believe our development adjectives will be achieved if we can make the taxpaying easier for everyone.” She says.According to her, the system will be convenient to all taxpayers, because it reduces cost and improves efficiency. The LRA boss said in order to work on the system, one needs to access the platform on the LRA official website and download it on a computer with available instructions.

“We are also available by our call center to provide assistance to tax payers on how to use the platform. You will also enroll at the platform and the enrollment entails submitting your tax identification number and also your last reported income and submit it for enrollment.” She explains.

She emphasizes that as a taxpayer, one has an obligation, which entails being registered to do business, filing tax returns, and making payment, noting that the platform is available and expect all taxpayers are encouraged to use it to improve their compliance level and ensure that they make payment and filing.

Acting CG King-Sackie says the system covers everything including, Cooperate Income Tax, Personal Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Real Estate, amongst others. She says prior to official launch of the platform, the LRA had about 99 taxpayers, who have already registered on the platform.
