M.D. Duannah Kamara: LWSC does not owe contractors

By Kruah Thompson

The Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) Duannah Kamara, tells contractors of the Corporation that have forfeited the timeline for projects, he owes them nothing. He says claims that LWSC is indebted to contractors for several months are unfounded.

He explains that when contracts are signed with an institution, they come with a duration for implementation, so when the contract term expires, such individuals or contractors have no business or obligation with said institutions.

Mr. Kamara warns that if anyone has salary claim against the LWSC, said person should go to court.

“The law backs everybody so no one should masquerade and no one should go to the studio and talk about Water and Sewer owing them”, he adds.

Speaking to reporters recently, Director Kamara, who had earlier faced corruption allegations along with his Deputy for allegedly misappropriating 99 gallons of gasoline donated to the Corporation by the World Bank to enhance the operation of LWSC’s water plant, insists that all contracts with the entity ended since January 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, management extended those contracts by six months.

He says LWSC terminated all contracts as of December 31, 2020, and has not renewed any contract for implementation, adding that two months to the December 31st deadline, the corporation again informed all contractors accordingly.

“If you volunteer for over 3 months and you can’t receive anything from such institution, you don’t have to be with that institution.” He says.

We got a legal system here that uses the law, he notes and adds that when the name Exile Republic was placed on him, he took the legal process, so he expects those demanding payment to do the same.https://thenewdawnliberia.com/former-lwsc-boss-claims-witch-hunt/ Editing by Jonathan Browne
