Man, 48, gets life sentence

The Eighth Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, has sentenced a 48 years old man to life. Arthur Duahn was sentenced after he was adjudged guilty of killing his four step-children in Luogatou  Town.

According to indictment from the court, the convict said he committed the act because his wife, Elizabeth Luo, had repeatedly refused him in bed.

Duahn is a deacon of the Liberia Inland Church in Luogatou Town.

The NeDawn Nimba County correspondent said Arthur Duahn, who set his four bedroom house ablaze sometimes last year, leading to the death of all four step-children, later escaped, but was arrested in neighboring Ivory Coast and turned over to the Government of Liberia few months ago.

Family members of the murder convict said this is not his first involvement in murder, recalling that Arthur Duahn allegedly killed his mother before escaping to the Ivory Coast.

The victims were asleep at about 2 a.m. their step-father set the house ablaze, leading to their death, but their mother survived.

They include Linda Luo, 24; Mercy Luo, 32; and a four months old baby, Junior Boy. Some of victims were college students, while one was pregnant.
