Man commits suicide in Lofa

A man in his 30s has committed suicide in Zorzor District, Lofa County, northern Liberia. The New Dawn correspondent in Lofa, says the deceased identified as James V. Moses, was a student of the Lofa County Community College. He reportedly committed the act on Sunday, 16 July in his home town, Dorzinilor.


Family sources say they were all out door during the evening hours of July 16 when they heard the sound of a single barrel gun in the room of the deceased. According to them, they immediately rushed him to the Konia Health Center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility.

The widow of the deceased reports that prior to the incident, her husband had always complained of not being supported by his elder brother. Our correspondent also quotes police investigation as saying that the late Moses allegedly shot himself with a single barrel short gun lying on the left side of his chest.

He said the remains of the deceased was turned over to the family by the police and has been buried. This is the second time in less them a month for a young person to take his own life in Zorzor district.
