Man commits suicide

A 30-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide in Tappita, lower Nimba County. The late Morris Gonkarnu was a branch manager for Ma-Queen filling station in Tappita. He was found dead last Thursday, 28 July in his bedroom.

The NewDawn Nimba correspondent say the late Morris Gonkarnu sold gas for Adonis Menlor, proprietor for Ma-Queen gas station in Ganta but due to trust, he was later transferred to the Ma-Queen branch# 4 in Tappita where he was allegedly indebted to his boss Adonis Menlor, 18 drums of gas, which worry may had led to his death.

When contacted, the proprietor of the Ma-Queen filling station in Ganta, Mr. Menlor denied the late Morris Gonkarnu owed him 18 drums of gas. However, eyewitness told our correspondent that the late Morris Gonkarnu used a single barrel pistol to terminate his own life.

Prior to his death, the deceased dressed his son and allegedly asked him to get out of the room before terminating his own life. Suicidal acts in Nimba are said to be on the increase with the death of the late Morris Gonkarnu bringing to two in less than two weeks.

Recently, 38 years old Preston Nya Saye committed suicide in Gbablin Town. He allegedly drank acid on July 18, 2016 and his body was found in front of his house in Gbablin Town, District Eight in Nimba.
