Man falls dead from palm tree

A 24-year-old palm harvester has fallen dead from a plam tree in Grand Kru County, southeast Liberia. The remains of the deceaded, only identified as Archie, was discovered over the weekend under a plam tree in Gbarngken, Wedabo in Grand Kru.


Acoording to family sources, the late Archie left the town last Thursday for the forest to cut palmnuts, but never returned until his body was discovered the next day by relatives after they laucnhed a search for him.

The relatives told the New Dawn in Gbarnken, about 30 kilometers from Barclayville that the late Archie harvested palmnuts and sold them to making a living. They narrate that he used rope to climb palm trees in the forest, revealing that a rope he used on that day was found laying near his body under the tree.

The family lamented that he may have fallen from the palm tree after the rope he tied around his waist mistakenly cut, sending him tumbling to the ground to his instant death. Meanwhile, the remains of the late Archie have been buried in the county.
