Man flogs friend to death in Margibi

A 42-year-oldman identified as Sadue Cyphus has allegedly assaulted a colleague to death in Margibi county.

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Weala, district# 5, Margibi following a fight between the two.

Alias ‘Junior’, the victim, who was a resident of Clinton Farm near Weala, is said to have been knocked badly on his neck with a stick by Suspect Sadue.

Meanwhile, police in the county are currently investigating the perpetrator, a resident of Ka- Jinnie Town not far from Weala.

According to eyewitnesses, it all started when girlfriends of both the deceased and the accused got in a serious confrontation. Reason for the commotion was not disclosed.

But after their quarrel, Sadue’s girl reportedly told him that the late junior’s girlfriend referred to him (Sadue) as a Zogo, a characterization Liberians ascribe to a criminal. Hearing the information, Sadue got furious and flogged and naked Junior’s girlfriend.

When the deceased’s partner complained to him what Sadue did to her, the victim engaged his killer the next day while he had gone to defecate in the bush where he saw Sadue.

When he inquired from his friend why he beat and naked his girlfriend, Sadue allegedly responded harshly, saying he was looking for the victim to flog him.

The deceased then said he was not ready for a fight but Sadue allegedly engaged him into a fight and hit the victim on his neck, killing him instantly. 

The late Junior, our investigation gathered, was experiencing a running stomach for about three days, including the day of the incident. He also sustained a broken leg from the attack. Editing by Jonathan Browne
