Man kills friend over cooking pot

Police in Saclepea, Nimba County have arrested 48 years old Nelson Kpanafor allegedly flogging a friend, George Paye, to death on Monday September 7. Nelson and the late George reportedly engaged in fistfight following confusion over a cooking pot.

The incident, which occurred at the Cocopa Rubber plantation in Camp #5,Nimba left the victim seriously injured. He was subsequently pronounced dead after been rushed at the Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Ganta City.
Both men worked at the Cocopa Rubber Plantation prior to the incident. The late George Paye was a father of seven children.  Recently, a 35-year-old man was mobbed to death in Blagypa Town, Nimba.
The victim, only identified as “body man”, was mobbed to death in Ganta. It all started when the victim and a friend received money for a contract they executed and they shared the amount, but “body man” allegedly took out five Liberian Dollars as head of the contract, which resulted to disagreement and subsequent fight that led to his death.
Several citizens, who spoke to our Nimba correspondent, expressed disappointment over increased mob violence in the county. They said, UNMIL has not left Liberia and mob violence has intensified, particularly in Nimba.
They called on the government to intervene to halt the wave of lawlessness in the country.
