Man kills wife in trees felling

Mr. Sampson Sackie and his late wife

Tragedy has hit a farming couple in Margibi County while brushing their farm when the husband cut down a tree that mistakenly struck his wife and killed her instantly. r. Sampson Sackie and his late wife were residents of Joseph Town, Cinta Township in District#5, Margibi County.

The incident occurred recently as they both had gone on the farm to complete the remaining brushing after a communion workforce locally referred to as ‘cuu’ had worked on the farm, clearing bushes and felling trees.

Narrating the ordeal to this paper, a family source said the late Madam Sackie was standing on the opposite side as her husband was cutting down big trees when one of them mistakenly hit a small thorny tree that fell on her head, smashing it on a rock, and bursting it instantly.

The source further narrated that Mr. Sackie did not immediately noticed that he had mistakenly killed his wife, and continued to work until when their little son, who had gone to fetch water, returned and met mother lifeless body under one of the fallen trees and immediately alarmed to his father, saying “You have killed my mother.”

It was then that Mr. Sackie rushed to take his wife from under the tree, but it was already late as she had died. Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police Deport in Baypolu Town, district#5 has begun interrogating Mr. Sackie on the circumstances that led to incident.

Police are said to being questioning whether he and his late wife had a quarrel prior to the incident.
