Maryland Community Watch Forum receives bicycles

As part of efforts to enhance community watch forum activities and curtail crimes, the Liberia National Police in Maryland County receives six high speed bicycles for the use of community watch forum district coordinators in the county.

Maryland County community services section commander Munah Sieh, says the high speed bicycles donated through UNMIL access funding are intended for the district coordinators to have easy access to police stations in case of crimes.

According to Officer Sieh [no relations to former Police Director Munah Sieh-Brown] the bicycles donated would boost information dissemination on crimes to enable the police to probe.

She lauds the UNMIL access funding program for buttressing the LNP’s efforts in the county in curtailing crimes since security is now in the hands of the Government of Liberia.

“Normally, if there are crimes or issues in the community and there is distance from the crime scene to police station in that area, it is difficult for police to get the information on time, but the coming of these bicycles will enable my district coordinators to give intelligence to my officers assigned in their district and information to the county headquarters as well”, she points out.

The Maryland County community services section commander speaking at the turning over ceremony on Monday in Harper, Maryland County challenged recipients of the high-speed bicycles to use them for their intended purpose, adding that with the bicycles crimes would be curtailed, if not eliminated perfectly.

For his part, Samuel G. Natt, head of Maryland community watch forum extends thanks and appreciation to the LNP authorities, and its partner for the high -speed bicycles, promising to work with his colleagues to ensure that they are used for their intended purposes.

Meanwhile, LNP deputy county commander, Superintendent Sampson Wah, assures that his officers are prepared to work with the community watch forum to make sure crimes are curtailed in the county and the entire Southeast region.

He promises LNP Maryland detachment’s full support to the community watch forum, adding that a night time patrol is important to enhance the process, but the provision of needed logistics for police constant patrol would help the process across the county.
