Ministerial league: Public Works Bow To Maritimes

The Ministry of Public Works last Friday went down to the Bureau of Maritime AffairS 1 – 2 goals at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium or ATS in the opener of the third edition of the Inter- Ministerial, Public Corporations and Agencies Tournament.

Dominic Sinneh got the curtain raiser for the “Dozers” in the 27 minute of the match from a penalty kick, after “Old hand” Pewee Bestman fouled him just in the 12 yard box.

Every effort by the Maritime boys to find the equalizer in the first half proved faultier as the “Dozers clear every hindrance found in their way. The fear of the “Dozers” tearing Robert Gibson apart caught him when he widely kicked a penalty fare over the cross bar.

At the first half break ,  the handful of Public Works Employees at the ATS burst into real merry-making not knowing that it was just the first half of the match.

All of the dancing and singing soon came to a halt in the 44 minute of the game, few minutes in the second and final half, when Dezeley Zulu from the 27 yard beautifully placed his leg on to a ball that landed “inside the net,” to level the score at 1 – 1.

Emmanuel Kollie of Maritime silenced the “Dozers” when he scored the second goal in the 49 minute of the encounter, putting his side in the lead two goals to one against “MPW.”

With the score at 2 – 1 for Maritime, the half –way mark became the parking lot for the “Dozers” until the end of the game.

Also on Friday, John Molu ‘s General Auditing Commission settled to a one all draw with Harrison Kanweah Ministry of Internal Affairs. The competition continued on Saturday with two matches.
