The Government of Liberia has shut down a private clinic here, for performing a surgery on a patient leading to death.

Monrovia, Liberia, March 26, 2025 – The Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has arrested the Administrator of Lofa Medic Services Clinic in Jacob Town, Sam Wolobah, for alleged medical mal-practice, resulting to the death of a Liberian citizen.

The Lofa Medic Services Clinic is located in Neezoe, Jacob Town, Paynesville, Liberia.

The Ministry of Justice and the LMDC in a joint press release dated March 25, 2025, said the Public Safety Divisions of their respective institutions have with immediate effect shut down the clinic, pending investigation.

The release indicates that Mr. Sam Wolobah, who purports to be a Medical Doctor, performed a surgery on a 30-year-old man identified as Samuel P. Kollie, which led to his death.

Mr. Wolobah is currently in the custody of the Liberia National Police, undergoing interrogation.

The release disclosed that preliminary findings revealed that Sam Wolobah, the clinic’s administrator and an Operation Room Technician, falsely presented himself as a medical doctor and performed the surgery (appendectomy) that led to Kollie’s death.

Appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix. The appendix is found in the colon on the lower right side of the belly. Under Liberian Penal Code Section 12.35, impersonating as a public official with the intent to deceive is criminal. Press Release
