MORE NIMBA CITIZENS REGISTER IN RIVERCESS TO VOTER
More citizens from vote rich Nimba County have been crossing over to neighboring Rivercess County to participate in the ongoing voters registration exercise ahead of the 2017 Presidential and Legislative elections.
The citizens, mostly of the Gbi and Doru community in district #9 have complained of being marginalized in the county and have concluded that joining neighboring Rivercess County will spur some form of development for them.
Nimba County Senator Thomas Grupeewho disclosed this to the New Dawn said the action of the Gbi and Doru citizens is against the rules of the National Elections Commission or NEC, that people should not be transported from one region to another.
Grupee told our correspondent that the action by a segment of Nimba citizens is against the interest of the county.
He alleged that there are some citizens of Gbi-Dorubased in the United States of America who have encouraged their kinsmen through local radio announcements to register in Rivercess rather than Nimba.
Citizens of Gbi-Doru have complained overtime that they have been neglected by their political leaders. The district lacks road networks, schools and health facilities.
However, Sen. Grupee says it would be in the interest of the Gbi-Doru citizens to forgo their action and come back to register in the County to enable them vote in the 2017 elections.
He said the action by the local Gbi-Doru citizens will in no way help them for government to seek their welfare in bring in the needed development.
In a related development, the New Dawn correspondent says since the voters’ registration begun on February 1, 2017, some areas in the county don’t have access to the process.
On Thursday February 2, our correspondent named districts 1,3,4,5 as the affected districts as at the time of the report.

Our correspondent said out of the 148 centers in upper-Nimba County 20 were shut-down due to what the NEC referred tolate arrival of equipment.
When contacted the upper-Nimba Election Magisterial Mr. Princeton Monbiah confirmed, saying they yet yet to begin active work due to the lack of logistics.
