Motorcyclists, Street Sellers Relocated

The President of the Liberia Motorcycle Transport Union- Bong chapter has welcomed the decision by the County leadership to re-locate motorcyclists from the main street of Gbarnga.

Last Thursday, January 22, was set aside by authorities of Bong County for the relocation of motorcyclists who usually use the Phebe Parking-Gbarnga markete intersection on the Gbarnga Broad Street as parking stations.

They are re-located to the Barwolor Quarter Community and the Ganta Parking Station respectively, while street sellers will be relocated to the Bassa Community Market, south of the city.

According to Mr. Samuel Eliot, their removal will only materialize if drivers that are currently using the Barwolor quarter parking lot are quickly relocated as well.

Mr. Eliot said it is a complete disappointment to be relocated to congested parking places already occupied.

According to the county administration, the decision was intended to decongest the Gbarnga main street and give the city a face lift.

Members of the county hierarchy had already stated that they were negotiating with the Chinese Company, CHICO, to pave the main streets of Gbarnga.
