MOVEE’s vacation Vice Standard Bearer quits
The Vice Standard Bearer of the Movement for Economic Empowerment or MOVEE Baptist preacher Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves, Jr. has quit the party following it dismal performance from the October 10th polls. MOVEE Standard Bearer Dr. Joseph Mills Jones chose Rev. Samuel Reeves as running mate for the Presidential and Representatives elections, but according to final results released by the National Elections Commission, the party obtains 12,854 or 0.8 percent of the total votes cast across the country.
In a press release issued here Rev. Reeves attributes his decision to relinquish the post to the outcome of the elections result. MOVEE is one of the 26 registered political parties here that participated in the first round of elections in which none of the 20 candidates that vied obtained 50 percent plus one of the total votes cast to be constitutionally declared winner.
The Coalition for Democratic Change of Senator George Weah and the governing Unity Party led by Vice President Joseph Boakai who obtained 38 percent and 29 percent of the votes, respectively are going for a runoff on November 7th. Rev. Reeves, who many describe as a vacation politician, continues that he cherishes his political association with the MOVEE family which enabled him to experience a bit of Liberian politics.
According to him, he could not have missed the opportunity to serve his country as Vice Standard Bearer of MOVEE for anything else. Meanwhile, Rev. Reeves has returned to the Providence Baptist Church as Head Pastor, a position he earlier served before coming to Dr. Jones.
