Three Liberians selected For Elumelu’s entrepreneurship program

The Tony Elumelu Foundationhas selected three Liberians for its Entrepreneurship Program.

James Mulbah, William Dennis and Peter Gbeliasubmitted competitive proposals on waste management, information and communication technologies and energy/power generation sectors respectively and will now join 997 other entrepreneurs from a total of 52 African countries for the Entrepreneurship Boot-Camp slated to be held in Lagos, Nigeria from the 9th to the 12th of July, 2015.

A dispatch from the Liberian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria says the three Liberians form a part of the 1,000 entrepreneurs the Foundation selected out of 20,000 applications it received.

The dispatch,quoting a letter from The Tony Elumelu Foundation which was addressed to the Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Al-Hassan Conteh dated May 19, 2015, says their selection was based on being the “best and most transformative entrepreneurs from across the continent”.

The selected entrepreneurs are currently undoing a 12-week course online after which they will travel for the boot-camp in Lagos.

The boot-camp includes learningrelevant life skills and advanced business plans. Each participant will receive a guaranteed US$5,000 non-refundable seed capital investment from the founder, Mr. Tony Elumelu at the end of the boot-camp.

The Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program represents a decade-long commitment by the Tony Elumelu Foundation to bolster African entrepreneurship with the goal of identifying, creating and growing 10,000 African-owned businesses over the next 10 years that will generate one million new jobs and contribute US$10 billion in revenue across Africa.-Press Release
